Joseph

"Joseph Was Sold"
(tune: "Row, Row, Row your Boat")

Down, Down, in a pit
In the wilderness
Joseph's brothers threw him there
Because they hated him.

Then came sellers by;
To Egypt they were bound.
For twenty silver pieces
To them was Joseph sold.

Joseph Trusted God
(tune: "Farmer in the Dell")

To Egypt Joseph went,
To Egypt Joseph went,
He was bought to be a slave
By captain Potiphar.

For Joseph all went well,
For Joseph all went well,
Until the day his master's wife
Had him put into jail.

But Joseph trusted God
While deep inside the jail.
And once again God cared for him
and kept him from all harm.

Pharaoh

Pharaoh, Pharaoh was the king
(Form crown with hands and place on head)
Pharaoh, Pharaoh had a dream,
(Pillow head on folded hands to "sleep")
Oh, me! Oh, my!
(Lift left hand and drop in despair; Repeat with right hand)
What does it mean?
(Rest chin in hand to ponder)

Wise men, magicians couldn't say,
(Shake index finger)
Even though they thought all day,
(Continue to shake finger)
Oh, me! Oh, my!
(Lift left hand and drop in despair; Repeat with right hand)

God told Joseph about the dreams,
Joseph went and told the king,
Great God! (clap hands). Praise Him!(clap hands),
Only God knows dreams! (point upward)
Ruth Hale
Twelve Tribes of Israel
(tune: "Whosoever Will May Come")

Jacob lived in Canaan, there he had twelve sons;
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Zebulun,
Issachar and Asher, Naphthali and Dan,
Joseph, Gad and Benjamin.

In the land of Egypt, Joseph had two sons:
Ephraim and Manasseh, a tribe for every one.
Tribes were twelve in number-Levites, too, had one.
Thus were all the tribes begun.

Pharaoh's Dreams
(tune"Yankee Doodle")

Pharaoh had two dreams one night
That were so strange to him.
The wise men tried with all their might
To know what they must mean.

But Pharaoh's dreams were strange to them
Their meaning was not clear.
So Pharaoh sent for Joseph
Who was inside the jail.

Then Joseph with the help of God
Interpreted the dreams
Seven years of plenty,
Then seven years of famine.

Sharing
(tune"Jimmy Crack Corn")

Happy hands can share each day,
Showing love for you this way;
Happy feet can help to share
Pleasing God this way.

We can share as Joseph did
Sharing food and all we have.
We can share as Joseph did,
Pleasing God this way.

Joseph Loved His Family
(tune"Mary Had a Little Lamb")

Joseph loved his brothers so,
Brothers so, brothers so.
Joseph loved his brothers so,
Their wrongs he did forgive.

He brought them down to Egypt then,
Egypt then, Egypt then.
He brought them down to Egypt then
So that they would not starve.

It was God's plan that they should go,
They should go, they should go.
It was God's plan that they should go
To live there for a while

Someday God would bring them back,
Bring them back, bring them back.
Someday God would bring them back
To the promised land
